Since starting Bolton Lake Woodcraft several years ago, my signature products have been designing and making end grain cutting boards and custom handmade handles for high-quality Damascus steel knife blades. As my business is evolving, I've also accepted a number of commissions to create custom-sized butcher-block counters for homeowners and kitchen design stores.

Before launching my Etsy shop I was involved in the office furniture industry for 30 years. Most recently I designed office spaces and sold the furniture for those spaces.
While I'd always enjoyed woodworking the necessity to demolish and rebuild the home where my wife and I live on Bolton Lake in Connecticut prompted me to do woodworking professionally. I so completely reconstructed the home's interior that new guests often exit to double-check that the house is still a raised ranch. I built a movie room with an arched ceiling and sound isolation components that I designed to enhance the sound system. I rebuilt the home's staircase, and crafted the cabinets and mirrors for the home's three bathrooms. I built walnut kitchen cabinets in our home's new great room, with a book-matched raised-panel design.
Along the way, I built bookshelves, a coffee table, and dining room table, getting feedback from friends and family that my woodworking is not only functional -- it's beautiful. By combining domestic and exotic hardwoods to bring out their natural beauty, I've created artistic designs that I'm passionate about.
The renovation also included an addition to give me the space for those house projects. That addition is now home to Bolton Lake Woodcraft, a more personal direction in self-employment.
